Following the retirement of the long serving director and Chairman of the Company, Mr Oliver Chidawu, the board has nominated Mr Howard Buttery as the new Chairman with effect from 1 June 2010. Howard Buttery is the retiring Executive Chairman of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange listed capital equipment company Bell Equipment. Howard has an extensive knowledge of the African business landscape accumulated over more than 40 years of working experience. The board is of the view that Howard will make a significant contribution to the group as Chairman and will build on the outstanding work of his predecessor.

The group delivered reduced headline earnings on a historical cost basis of BWP14.4 million compared to BWP25.5 million in the previous year. The decline in earnings can be partially attributed to the appreciation of the reporting currency, Botswana pula, which rose by 21% against the US dollar since 30 June 2002.
